Their Rooted for Good: Roadmap to 2030, launched in 2021, sets clear targets: cut carbon emissions in half by 2030, become climate positive by 2050, move every estate vineyard to regenerative farming by 2030, and protect water for local streams and aquifers.
Regenerative farming rebuilds soil instead of treating it as a resource to take from. Jackson Family Wines aims to apply these methods to 100 percent of their estate vineyards by 2030. Practices include adding compost, planting cover crops between vines, reducing or eliminating tillage, and introducing cover crops and even livestock in some spots. These steps increase soil organic matter, help capture carbon, and improve water holding capacity. Vines then draw more water from the soil and need less irrigation during dry periods.
